What is the Casino?

A casino is a space created for a distinct type of gamblers. Casinos are usually built closely or merged with hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail shopping, cruise, and other tourist destinations. Some casinos are also well-known for hosting live entertainment, such as stand-up comedy, concerts, and sports.

 Customized Contact Lenses

In 2011, Four con artists pulled off 64,000 euros that came up to $88,000 from Les Princes Casino’s poker in Cannes, France. One of them (a worker at the Casino) used invisible ink to highlight the back of cards—drawing lines for an ace and cross marks for a king. For example, while the others used customized contact lenses to catch hold of the cards that would give them an upper hand. The Casino turned suspicious of the players when they returned later in the week for the second game of highly-priced poker. French authorities discovered the marked cards and noticed the cheaters’ contact lenses after they ruled out cameras and infrared glasses.

Radio Transmitters & Cigarette Pack

A French roulette trader at the Casino Deauville, accompanied by his sister and brother-in-law, took the Casino for 5 million francs, which gets about $1 million in 1973. The dealer built a radio transmitter inside a pack of cigarettes and a roulette ball with a tiny receiver inside. When one triggered a button on the cigarette pack, the ball was controllable on a specific part of the roulette wheel. The cheating trio had a 90 percent accuracy rate with the scam.

The only reason why they finally were captured was that the casino owner was infatuated with the roulette dealer’s sister. The latter was in charge of pushing the button on the cigarettes pack. The owner wondered why she always occupied the same table and made comparatively low bets without any wins. Along with his rising suspicion and significant losses at the table, he called in a specialized crew to sweep the Casino. The authorities discovered the radio transmitter and tiny receiver, as they also caught the trio in the act of cheating.

A French film named Trichers, also known as The Cheaters, was made about the trio and its clever scheme in 1984.
